MAPS memory of a city

“I am fascinated by industrial archeology, the memory of working places which regenerate and are integrated with the rapid changing of the city”.
It is in that perspective that a silk velvet cloth harbors the memory of metal scrap with the oxidation traces.
Its composition creates a resemblance of a neighborhood or of a square of an imaginary city. At night or day, prints of industrial remains that leave a non-fading mark of their souls
Rust represents the urban life in contrast with the luxurious surface of the silk velvet.
The works light is iridescent and constantly alters depending from the point of view, pointing out in its chaos the liveliness and the constant change of nowadays metropolis.
The works are called MAPS neighborhood/ MAPS square in the variants night and day.
The same philosophy applies to the line of cushions created for l’Opificio called MAPS. Unique pieces made with the “tampone process” with oxidations on Velvet defined by the artist designer of Turin.
This collaboration between Matter Tampone and l’Opificio will allow to create pieces made-to-order.

“Sono affascinato dall’archeologia industriale, la memoria di spazi lavorativi che si rigenerano e si integrano nella velocità del cambiamento delle città.”
Così una tela in velluto di seta accoglie la memoria di scarti metallici con tracce di ossidazione.
La sua composizione da vita a sembianze di quartiere o piazze di una città immaginaria notturna o diurna, impronte di residui industriali che lasciano il segno indelebile delle sue anime.
La ruggine rappresenta la storia di una vita urbana che contrasta con la superficie preziosa del velluto di seta.
La luce dell’opera è cangiante e muta da qualsiasi punto di vista evidenziando, nel suo caos, la vivacità e – il continuo cambiamento delle nostre metropoli di oggi.
Le opere si chiamano Maps Quartiere / Maps Piazza con variante Diurna e Notturna.
Con la stessa filosofia Matteo Tampone crea la linea di cuscini “MAPS” per l’ Opificio, realizzando pezzi unici secondo il processo a TAMPONE con ossidazioni su velluto messo a punto dal designer/artista torinese.
La collaborazione tra l’ Opificio e Matteo Tampone porta a creare accessori anche su commissione.
